21st of September marked the day of “The Innovation Summit 2016” and The Oxford School took part in it, with great enthusiasm and anticipation. Event venue was the gorgeous Atlantis, The Palm Hotel, Dubai, kicking off at 09:30 am.

A group of 15 students, proud members of the Innovation club accompanied by Ms. Lata Ganisetty took off for the summit. In the ballroom excitement fizzed in the air until finally it began with a welcome speech by H.E. Abdul Basit Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME.

He quoted, “Business, Art and Innovation fuse here in Dubai”!

Furthermore, we had the award ceremony for the 3 winners of Disruptive Innovator Awards 2016 in 3 different categories. Watching the prizes presented to young innovative minds hopefully had inspired our own students.

Following this, keynote speakers came up on stage. First, Tim Jones of University of Cambridge, speaking his mind on “Six challenges of the Future”. Students were clearly impressed and inspired by his thoughts and findings. For more information on this, visit:

Next Keynote speaker was the very famous Red Hat Open Source Innovation for Emerging Nations
, educating us on how technology will drive the future generation.

After hours of discussion and presentation, any event calls for a lunch break. Students enjoyed the wonderful lunch buffet presented by the Atlantis Hotel.

Finally, to wrap things up, a panel discussion consisting of famous 6 innovators who work in UAE itself, trying to bring about a change gathered and spoke their minds. The discussion topic was a total eye catcher, “Building the happiest city”.

The trip aim was to allow students mind exposed to a broader scale of the world of innovation and its place in our lives and to show them the worth of an idea. It’s cost and importance of the same and so marked the end of an exciting yet informative day.
