SCIENCE EXPLORATIONS-YEAR 7 BOYS – BALLOON CARS

This was an in-class partner project. Materials were gathered from group members to build the balloon powered car. The goal was to apply what they’ve learnt about mechanical interactions by building a rocket car that minimizes friction and drag. During testing, they calculated average speed and took many measurements as well. They then analyzed the interactions and forces involved in their cars. The most challenging aspect of this project was collaborating with others. Every group member had to contribute their ideas BEFORE construction of their rocket car. Another challenge was the actual construction of the car. They ran into some technical issues (car turns, balloon drags on ground, parts fall off your car, or it just doesn’t work at all!) that required more collaboration with their partner to solve. This developed Team spirit and cooperation.
