Mr. Ajit Moorkoth

Ajit Moorkoth is a Consultant Rehabilitation Practitioner, Clinical Special Educator, and Psychologist, with training from India and Australia. He has 32 years of professional experience with interests in neurodevelopmental disorders and early intervention services for high-risk / at-risk neonates and infants.
Ajit's key interests and skills include educational diagnostics, personnel preparation in rehabilitation sciences and special education, school reform practices, early intervention services, and educational neurosciences.
Ajit has a bachelor’s degree in disability rehabilitation from NIEPID (formerly NIMH). Secunderabad where he specialized in intellectual disability and interned in early intervention for high and at — risk newborns and toddlers. He has an M.Ed. in Special Education degree from the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, specializing in learning disabilities, behaviour disorders, and gifted and talented children. Subsequently, he joined for an M.Phil. Degree in Education at Alagappa University with thesis work on Dual Sensory Impairments/Deafblindness. Ajit also has a Master of Psychology degree from the University of Madras.
He is at present a part-time doctoral student in Amrita University.
In recognition of his achievements in the field of disability rehabilitation and special education, Ajit has received numerous awards and recognitions to his credit. In 2018, he was appreciated for his contributions as a Jury Member on the prestigious Princess Haya Award for Special Education in UAE.
In 2014, he was invited by the Kumla Municipality in Sweden to visit Sweden to exchange ideas on special and inclusive education between Cochin and Sweden.
In 2013, Ajit received the Shreshtacharya Award in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of disability rehabilitation. In 2002, he was the only candidate who was selected for the NIMH Fellowship from all over India by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. In 2000, both Sheffield University in UK and the Hull University in UK awarded him the ORAS Award and the Merit Award respectively. In 1994, he received the prestigious AIDAB Award Full Scholarship from the Government of Australia.
Ajit is at present the Director and Chief Consultant of the SEED Center for Special Education in Dubai. He is also the Managing Trustee of Vigyan Valley in Cochin which provides assessment, intervention and intervention servicers to children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Ajit was also the Autism Program Head of Dubai Autism Center from 2018 to 2020. Prior to his arrival in UAE, he had been Assistant Professor of Special Education teaching B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses in Special Education in KVM College of Special Education which is affiliated to the University of Kerala.
Ajit is an avid reader, an aviation enthusiast and former commercial pilot, and a film actor who was recently seen in the much-appreciated and blockbuster film Kumbalangi Nights in the role of a clinical psychologist.
